Dr. Jamila is committed to serving and empowering individuals, organizations and communities through a strength-based, culturally-relevant and social-justice informed paradigm. With nearly 20 years of experience in mental health, education and training, she has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences, non-profit organizations and educational institutions. Through organizational consulting, guest lectures, public forums, healing circles, radio interviews and clinical supervision, Dr. Jamila’s expertise has been sought out for a wide array of mental health and social justice issues affecting individuals and communities of color. Notably, she has a special focus on intergenerational and historical trauma, structural racism, racial and ethnic disparities, surviving and thriving in predominantly White institutions, and championing the needs of youth of color.
A strong leader in the field, Dr. Jamila has served on numerous quality improvement teams and provided consultation and advocacy focused on diversity, equity and inclusion. She brings her background as a skilled therapist and trauma expert to her organizational work, creating a safe space for the discussion of stigmatized topics within both culturally homogenous and culturally heterogeneous groups. She is well respected in the field for her ability to inspire and transform through her passion, creativity and authenticity.
Dr. Jamila is a New York state licensed psychologist and founder and CEO of Asili Services, Inc.. She provides holistic and culturally-aligned psychological intervention and consultation services and empowers communities of African descent by raising awareness of mental health, education and social justice issues. Dr. Jamila holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and M.S. in Psychology from The University of Maryland at College Park, and a B.A. in Psychology and African American Studies from Syracuse University.
For two decades, the core of Cindy’s career has been finding and developing diverse talent. Prior to launching The Cee Suite, she managed human capital programs for two of the world’s leading financial services and consulting companies, Goldman Sachs and Accenture. Today, Cindy advises clients across a range of People objectives, with a particular focus on workplace diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. In addition to deep industry experience within financial services, consulting, and technology, Cindy has also supported organizations in the media, entertainment, education, and non-profit sectors.
